Welcome to Puente!

The Puente Project is an academic preparation program that for more than 25 years has improved the college-going rate of tens of thousands of California's educationally disadvantaged students. Its mission is to increase the number of educationally disadvantaged students who:

  • Enroll in four-year colleges and universities
  • Earn college degrees
  • Return to the community as mentors and leaders of future generations

Puente goes to Texas! A new Texas initiative is bringing Puente to three community college districts in Texas: El Paso, McAllen and San Antonio.

Josefina Canchola named Woman of the Year. Josefina Canchola, Puente Associate Director, was named Woman of the Year, 2012 for the 56th Assembly District by Assembly member Tony Mendoza. The award ceremony was held on March 2, 2012 at the Cerritos Performing Arts Center.
