Site Administrators

Administrators at each program site also have important roles in overseeing the program. Potential new sites request information about the Puente program in a variety of ways, such as the Internet, telephone calls, emails and letters. Key site administrators, e.g., high school principal, district superintendent, community college president, dean of counseling, dean of instruction, are invited to review written materials about the program, and site visits and presentations are arranged. A letter of intent is filed and a formal agreement between the University of California and the high school or community college district is prepared and approved.

This formal process is accomplished at the beginning of each school year. Financial arrangements are stipulated in the annual agreement to provide support for such site expenses as field trips to college sites and special mentor events.
